A slightly less ranty addendum:
It would indeed be cool if we were the board that supported HDMI. I just don't know where the time, money, or huge pile of test TVs, would come from. 
I'd be particularly keen to see support for 3DTV over HDMI - even if we had to hand-code for a single chosen TV. (Although, thinking about it, just driving a fast LCD panel directly might be easier).
