Over 20 years of flash file system expertise, from Cambridge to orbit.
YAFFS (Yet Another Flash File System) was created in 2002 to provide a robust, journalling file system purpose-built for NAND flash chips. It was born from real-world need — the existing options simply weren't reliable enough for production embedded systems.
Today, YAFFS is used in hundreds of millions of devices worldwide across consumer electronics, aerospace, telecoms, industrial equipment, and more. The code continues to evolve with new features and refinements while maintaining the backward compatibility that production systems demand.
YAFFS is developed and maintained by Aleph One Ltd, based in Cambridge, United Kingdom.

Aleph One Ltd is a software company based in Cambridge, United Kingdom. The company has deep roots in embedded systems and operating system development, bringing decades of low-level systems expertise to the YAFFS project. This background in OS internals and embedded platforms is what makes YAFFS as robust and efficient as it is.
Commercial YAFFS licensees get direct access to the development team for support, and the company offers flexible support arrangements for customers who need it. Many commercial licensees are repeat customers — a testament to the quality of both the software and the team behind it.
